This has become one of my favorite plein air paintings of the Ajo, AZ., Sonoran Desert Series. Paintings I did from 2007 - 2008. This is an oil, 20x24. My paintings are exemplified by the spontaneous brush work. You see the entire process and there is very little going over anything....this gives it a performance quality and is very musical, in that, it has rhythm as well as harmonies in the composition. It is both personal and universal. Me, the human, is personal. The medium ie., color, brush, motif is universal.

Composition
This is a composition I created a while back. It is 30x36 inches. oil on wood panel. I use luan doorskins as an inexpensive painting surface. The painting itself is an homage to the tradition of modernism. It features a still life of Van Gogh with a rendition of his self portrait, along with a portrait of Che, and on the right, the master I studied with, Antonio Salemme 1892-1995.Available.
